The Dendurent Family Discussion Group provides an easy and convenient way for members of the family to keep in contact through the Internet. It is a web site hosted by yahoo.com.
How did the group get started?
It grew out of the Dendurent Family Reunion, which took place in Wichita, Kansas, June
9-12, 2000.
Who’s in charge?

he may look for other family members to serve as moderators and help with the
administration.

You will then be asked to add personal information to your profile.
What information is in my profile?
Most of the information is optional; you don’t even have to supply your name. But
if you do, it will help the moderator identify you as a legitimate member of the group.
You can go back and edit your profile at any time.
What if I need to leave the group?

yourself. There are directions for doing that at the web site, and a reminder is attached
to every email if you have chosen that option. As a last resort, the group moderator can
assist you.
What does it cost?
Nothing. The discussion group is free of charge.
I thought there was no such thing as a free lunch.
Well, you don’t get any lunch here ;-).
Like your favorite radio or TV station, this form of communication is supported by advertising displayed by the host entity, yahoo.com. You’ll see banner ads attached to the messages and web pages. If you are not interested, you can just ignore them as you might ignore newspaper ads.
How does the discussion group work?
It’s an open forum for discussion of whatever topics the members chooses. When
you write and post a message to the group, it appears n the Messages area of the web site.
It is also distributed by email to those who have chosen that option. Other members can
respond to the message, either directly on the web site or by replying to the email. Each
message has a subject header, which allows members to engage in different conversations
(called "threads").
How long do the messages remain on the web site?
For as long as the group exists. In other words, There is an archive of all messages
posted.
I’ve heard a lot about the dangers of the Internet. Is it safe to participate in a
group like this?
The Internet is unregulated and there are vile, malicious, and criminal elements out
there. However, this discussion group has several levels of protection.
What else does the group offer?
Besides an opportunity for discussion, members of the group can chat (live
conversation), conduct polls (one is available now), and put up web links of interest.
There are also other fun and useful resources.
I have other questions.
