Hod Dendurent Biography

Harold Oscar Dendurent was born July 18, 1910.

Hod was a 1928 graduate of Sherman Community High School and a 1934 graduate of Kansas State University in technical journalism. He was owner, editor and publisher of The Wamego (Kansas) Times from 1947 until June 1980. He also worked for the Goodland Daily News, Johnson Pioneer, and the Manhattan Mercury, the latter two of which he served as editor. He edited Army military newspapers while stationed in the United States and Africa during World War II. Hod appeared in clown makeup at many open houses, parades, and other get-togethers and was beloved by hundreds of children. He was a member of the Wamego United Methodist Church, the Wamego Lions Club, American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Wamego Historical Society, the KSU Alumni Association, the Wamego Chamber of Commerce, and the Wamego school board.
